Although Capt Cass restaurant is still on the edge of Rock Harbor in Orleans, Cape Cod, and open for business in the summer with their famous Lobster Roll sandwich, this iconic photo of the side of Capt Cass Restaurant no longer looks like this. Many of the buoys have faded from the salt water winds in the harsh winters and the beautiful warm Cape Cod sunny summer days. Many of the buoys have fallen off the building and the few that still remain are behind the bushes that now cover the windows.
Doesn’t this photo just scream Cape Cod summer? So warm and inviting with so much history?
I photographed this scene during the sweet light giving it the golden look. I also photographed this image in the middle of a raw New England winter day! Brrrrr. The moral of the story, there are often photo ops even on the days when you might not see the vision on the first look.
